(I started putting together rallys for Vintage Trailer Enthusiasts (and Motorhomes, and newer units too) in 2001. I had just recently purchased a Classic Airstream Motorhome and helped put together an online group of similar owners to chat about how to maintain and improve our prized classics.
We came up with the idea of having a meet-up at an " \Airstream only" park in the Florida panhandle. Most of us had never seen another classic motorhome and were anxious and excited.
We had 7 units show up with dogs and kids and lots of food. This was a whole lot of fun and a great learning experience as well.
Being a bit or an organizer, this led to rallys in Georgia at a number of different campgrounds and state parks over the next few years. Attendance increased as time went on and we sought a spot where we could host more attendees, and hopefully one that was scenic as well as comfortable in that it would have hook ups for us who did not boon dock.
We found this and more in the Georgia Mountain Fairgrounds, Campground. Located on Lake Chatuge and surrounded by the blue Ridge Mountains, this spot was perfect for us. Full hook ups available and most all sites with lake view or waterfront locations. Fine pavilion facilities and bath houses.
In the 9 (or is it 10?)years since the first rally at this park, we have hosted twice a year get togethers, one in October a week before Halloween, and one in April not to conflict with Easter, and Passover.
This blog will focus on being a spot for photos, and information about past and upcoming Rallys.
